Overview

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) contains a host of highly concentrated growth factors, nutrients, vitamins, electrolytes, hormones and bioactive proteins such as TGF-beta, PDGF-AB, bFGF, IGF, VEGF and EGF, globulins, albumin and fibrinogen all derived from your own blood which is then used naturally by the body for healing, repair and regeneration once injected. The components of the extracted plasma promote the activation of skin cells by altering the micro environment, improving blood flow to the skin and activating your body’s own stem cells to begin cell division and differentiation. The blood is spun in a centrifuge to extract the plasma which is rich in platelets and growth factors from other components of the blood that inhibit the regeneration process.

As we age, we lose collagen and elastin which play a key role as scaffolds within our skin holding it tight and firm. Our skin cells also start slowing down, essentially becoming more sleepy. What we end up seeing is greater skin skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles and dull skin. The PRP once injected starts signalling to the other cells in the injection area to essentially ‘wake them up’ hence when it is injected in to the skin, it stimulates dermal fibroblasts which are the cells that produce collagen and elastin. As it wakes up the fibroblasts, it wakes up a host of other cells that help boost the nutrition and blood flow to the area together allowing for refreshed, youthuful, glowing skin.

If PRP is injected in to pre-existing stretch marks or scars, the process of waking up the cells to boost production of new collagen and new elastin in the targeted areas which allows for these to be deposited in a more regular manner which supports and strengthens the skin.

Results The PRP Facial works with your natural skin cycle so a course of treatments are always required to see optimal results. For the PRP Facial we recommend a course of 3, 4 weeks apart followed by maintenance every 6-12 months as desired.
